What is Cytadren Used For? Aminoglutethimide is used to treat Cushing s syndrome and certain types of cancer.
How To Use Cytadren
Cytadren must be taken exactly as directed. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Do not stop taking Cytadren without your doctor s permission. Your dose may be changed frequently at first to find the best effective dose for you. If side effects become a problem, your dose will be adjusted.
Cytadren Side Effects
Cytadren may cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, weakness, nausea, or loss of appetite during the first few weeks of treatment. As your body adjusts to the medication, the symptoms will disappear. If they continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop any of the following while taking Cytadren: fainting, rapid heartbeat, itching, skin rashes, yellowing of the eyes or skin, breathing difficulties. Use caution when driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness as Cytadren may cause dizziness and drowsiness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Cytadren Precautions
Cytadren must be used under close medical supervision. Laboratory test will be done periodically to check the effects of Cytadren. Aminoglutethimide is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using Cytadren. It is not known if Cytadren passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions: chickenpox, shingles (herpes zoster), infection, kidney or liver disease, underactive thyroid. Do not drink alcohol while taking Cytadren.
Cytadren Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: dexamethasone, warfarin, theophylline, medroxyprogesterone. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Cytadren Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea and vomiting, unusual drowsiness or dizziness, unusual tiredness, and noticeable increase or decrease in breathing rate.
Missed Cytadren Dose
Take any missed dose as soon as possible if remembered within 2-4 hours but not if it is almost time for the next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double-up the dose.
Cytadren Storage
Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
