How To Use Diphenoxylate-Atropine
Take Diphenoxylate-Atropine as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed. Shake liquid preparations well before using. If diarrhea is not relieved in a few days, notify your doctor.

Diphenoxylate-Atropine Side Effects
Dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, bloating or loss of appetite may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. Inform your doctor if you experience: abdominal pain, skin rash. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Diphenoxylate-Atropine, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Diphenoxylate-Atropine Precautions
Before using Diphenoxylate-Atropine, tell your doctor your medical history especially of: chronic lung disease, colitis, liver disease, alcohol use, any drug allergies. Limit alcohol use because it may intensify the drowsiness and dizziness effects of Diphenoxylate-Atropine. Stopping the medication suddenly after taking high doses or after taking it over a long time may cause withdrawal. Diphenoxylate-Atropine Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic cough or pain relievers (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Diphenoxylate-Atropine Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include initially dryness of skin and mucous membranes, restlessness, flushing, rapid heart, followed by lethargy, coma, pinpoint pupils, and slowed breathing.

Missed Diphenoxylate-Atropine Dose
If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up the dose to catch up.
