What is Dostinex Used For? Dostinex is used to treat certain hormone problems (excess prolactin). The drug is used to reduce or prevent breast milk production, except after childbirth (postpartum).

How To Use Dostinex
Dostinex is taken by mouth twice weekly. Dosage is adjusted generally at 4 week periods based on blood tests (prolactin). Follow all instructions.

Dostinex Side Effects
Unusual weakness or fatigue, nausea or vomiting, constipation, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, tingling or numbness sensation may occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Unlikely but report promptly: mental or mood changes. Very unlikely but report promptly: fainting, swelling of feet or ankles, breast pain, menstrual changes, vision problems. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Dostinex Precautions
Before using Dostinex, tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), liver disease, psychiatric illness, uncontrolled high blood pressure, high blood pressure during pregnancy. Limit alcohol as it may aggravate side effects of Dostinex. Caution performing tasks requiring alertness, such as driving. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using Dostinex. It is not known if Dostinex is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using Dostinex is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Dostinex Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of: blood pressure drugs, dopamine blockers (e.g., metoclopramide, antipsychotics such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol). Also report the use of drugs that cause drowsiness such as: sedatives, sleeping pills, narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine), anti-anxiety medications, antidepressants, muscle relaxants, anti-seizure medications, certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

Dostinex Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include mental/mood changes, nasal congestion, fainting, lightheadedness, or irregular heartbeat .

Missed Dostinex Dose
If you miss a dose, contact your doctor promptly to establish a new dosing schedule.

Dostinex Storage
Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
