What is Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Used For? Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide has antibacterial action which prevents pimples and blackheads. It also removes excess oil and dries the skin. It is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne.
How To Use Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide is for topical use on the affected area only. Avoid using this in the eyes, mouth or nose or on inflamed or damaged skin. This is usually applied in the morning and evening. First wash, rinse and dry the affected area. Then apply a small amount of the medication and rub in gently with fingertips or an applicator. Wash hands after use.
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Side Effects
Slight stinging, redness, eye irritation, itching, tenderness, dryness and peeling may occur initially. Expect this. However, if redness or irritation continue or become worse, notify your doctor. Moisturizers or cool compresses may help relieve the irritation. Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide may stain hair or colored fabric. Use cautiously to avoid contact with clothing or hair. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Precautions
Tell your doctor if you have: other skin disorders, allergies (especially to antibiotics). Unless ordered by your doctor, avoid sunlamps, sunbathing or other topical acne medications while using Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide. Excessive skin irritation can occur. Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. It is not known if Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide is found in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may use, including: other acne medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide may be harmful if swallowed.
Missed Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Storage
Store the reconstituted gel in the refrigerator but do not freeze. The packet form of Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide may be stored at room temperature.
