What is Gfn 1200/phenylephrine 40 Used For? Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory tract illness.

How To Use Gfn 1200/phenylephrine 40
Take Gfn 1200/phenylephrine 40 by mouth. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. Take Gfn 1200/phenylephrine 40 as directed. Do not increase the dose or take it more often or longer than prescribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve congestion.

Gfn 1200/phenylephrine 40 Side Effects
Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear, difficult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping. If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures.
