D is an antihistamine used to treat the symptoms of
allergic rhinitis (allergies) and seasonal hay fever.

How
Drug Works
This
medicine blocks histamine, which eases symptoms such
as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.
How
Taken
Allegra
D is taken orally and can be taken with or without food.
Do not crush or chew extended-release tablets. Follow
the directions provided to you by your doctor.
Possible
Side Effects
The
side affects with this medicine are rare and may include:
dry mouth drowsiness If you experience other bothersome
side effects, contact your health care provider.
Warnings/Precautions
Until
you know how this medicine affects you, use caution
when driving and restrict your activities if necessary.
Do NOT take this medicine with orange, apple or grapefruit
juice. The levels of this medicine in your blood may
be decreased by 70%.
Overdose
For
emergencies seek medical attention immediately. For
non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison
control center at 1-800-222-1222.
Drug
Interactions
Fexofenadine
should NOT be combined with cisapride (Propulsid). The
risk of life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias (irregular
heart beat) have been reported. For further details
on drug interactions with this medicine, talk to your
doctor or pharmacist.
Missed
Dose
Take
your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time
for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back
to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage
Store
it at room temperature and away from excess heat and
moisture (not in the bathroom). Keep this medication
in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out
of reach of children. Throw away any medication that
is outdated or no longer needed.
Pregnancy/Nursing
If
you plan to breast-feed, talk to your doctor about possible
risks to your baby. If you are pregnant or thinking
of becoming pregnant talk to your doctor about the benefits
versus the risk of taking this medicine during pregnancy.
