What is Cutivate Used For? Cutivate is a steroid product used on the skin to reduce inflammation and relieve itching associated with various skin disorders.
How To Use Cutivate
Cutivate is for topical use only. Clean and dry the affected area as directed. Then apply a small amount of the medication on the skin and rub in gently. A thin layer is all that is needed. Do not bandage, wrap or cover the area treated unless you are instructed to do so by your doctor. Do not use large amounts nor apply this more often than directed nor use this for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not clear faster, but side effects may be increased. Use carefully if applying to the face. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Cutivate Side Effects
Cutivate may cause itching, burning, redness, dry skin or a rash. Notify your doctor if you develop any of these symptoms. Very unlikely to occur but report promptly the following side effects: unusual weakness, weight loss, nausea/vomiting, fainting dizziness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Cutivate Precautions
Before using Cutivate, tell your doctor your medical history including: other illnesses, any infections, other skin disorders (e.g., thinning skin), allergies (especially drug allergies). Though very unlikely, it is possible Cutivate will be absorbed into your bloodstream. This may have undesirable consequences that may require additional corticosteroid treatment. This is especially true for children and for those who have used this for an extended period if they also have serious medical problems such as serious infections, injuries or surgeries. This precaution applies for up to one year after stopping use of Cutivate. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Cutivate should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if Cutivate is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Cutivate Drug Interactions
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, especially of: skin products containing hydrocortisone. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Cutivate Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Cutivate may be harmful if swallowed.
Missed Cutivate Dose
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double-up the dose to catch up.
Cutivate Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
