at 252 am...snow was falling across most of eastern oklahoma and northwest arkansas. visibilities in the heaviest snow were less than a mile. the snow was pivoting north and west.
through 400 am...snow will continue to fall across eastern oklahoma and northwest arkansas. the snow will be heavy at times with snowfall rates of around an inch possible. the heaviest snow will occur across northwest arkansas and far eastern oklahoma.

a winter storm warning is in effect...
for the following counties... * in oklahoma...cherokee...adair...creek...okfuskee...okmulgee... wagoner...tulsa...rogers...mayes...delaware...pawnee...ottawa... pushmataha...choctaw...washington...osage...craig...nowata... pittsburg...sequoyah...mcintosh...muskogee...le flore...latimer and haskell. in arkansas...washington...madison...crawford... benton... sebastian...carroll and franklin.
hazardous weather... * snow amounts of 4 to 8 inches have already fallen today across parts of northeast oklahoma...mainly along and north of u.s. highway 412. precipitation has changed to mostly snow far across far eastern oklahoma and northwest arkansas but at times has been mixed with sleet and freezing rain. precipitation has diminished slight during the evening but it will begin to increase towards midnight and during the early morning hours. thus another period of moderate to heavy snow is likely across eastern oklahoma and northwest arkansas later tonight and sunday morning. the snow will diminish from the west during sunday afternoon.
* additional snowfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches can be expected with the heaviest snow accumulations of 8 to 10 inches expected along interstate 44 in northeast oklahoma. even in southeast oklahoma...snowfall amounts of around 4 inches are possible during the early morning hours sunday.
impacts... * travel has already become very hazardous across much of northeast oklahoma...and conditions are expected to deteriorate elsewhere overnight. spotty power outages are likely due to the accumulation of heavy wet snow on power lines combined with gusty winds.
precautionary/preparedness actions... * delay travel and stay home if possible until conditions improve.
