the flood warning continues for portions of the ohio river
in indiana...kentucky...and illinois...affecting areas near
newburgh dam...mount vernon...shawneetown...grand chain dam...and
cairo...

.river levels will continue to rise through the next few days as
a result of runoff from melted snowpack further upstream. a gradual
crest is expected beginning during the later portion of the
weekend and continuing into early next week closer to the
mississippi river.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...

never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. the water may be too deep to allow safe passage. never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. stay tuned to noaa weather
radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

* from thursday evening until further notice.
* at 6:00 pm wednesday the stage was 40.3 feet.
* flood stage is 42.0 feet.
* minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...rise above flood stage by thursday night and
continue to rise to near 45.0 feet by next thursday.
