the flood warning continues for the missouri river at waverly. * at 10:30 am saturday the stage was 19.9 feet. * flood stage is 20.0 feet. * minor flooding is forecast. * forecast...rise above flood stage by late this morning and continue to rise to near 21.3 feet by early thursday morning. additional rises are possible thereafter.

strong winter storm to affect the region this weekend...
.a complex late season winter storm will impact parts of the region through sunday morning while winding down across parts of northern missouri and extreme northeast kansas by early this evening.
after a lull in the precipitation this morning...light to moderate snow will over spread areas from around kansas city to macon southward...from west to east by midday. areas to the north of this line should see much lighter snow. as the north texas system tracks east saturday night and sunday...snow will continue...with the heaviest snowfall expected mainly over areas along and south of a paola to moberly line.

a winter weather advisory for snow and sleet remains in effect until 1 pm cdt sunday.
* location...parts of west central and central missouri.
* timing...after a lull in the precipitation this morning...an area of moderate intensity snow mixed at times with sleet will overspread the area by midday...and continue through tonight.
* snow accumulations...total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with locally greater amounts...will be possible by the time precipitation ends early sunday afternoon.
* impacts...roads will likely become slick and hazardous with snow and sleet today and tonight. initially the roads may be slushy... but as snow intensity increases...the roads may become snow packed creating hazardous driving conditions. in addition...strong north winds may cause areas of blowing snow which will reduce visibilities. motorists should exercise extreme caution when traveling.
