a red flag warning remains in effect until 5 pm edt this
afternoon.
the dry spell of the past 10 days has set the stage for an increased
risk of fire danger.
for this afternoon...gusty west winds to 35 mph will combine with
humidity below 30 percent and the dry spell of the past 10 days to
increase the rate of rapid fire spread in the very dry fine fuels.
the combination of strongest winds and lowest relative humidity
should occur between 2 pm and 5 pm.
winds are expected to diminish rapidly after 500 pm.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. a combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
