...increased fire danger across the midlands this labor day weekend...
individuals across the region are advised to take caution when using combustible materials especially if it involves out door burning over this holiday weekend. conditions have been dry over the past few days and ground fuels are now dry. in addition... relative humidities will be quite low with values around 25 percent both this afternoon and sunday afternoon. those camping or cooking out should be aware that even a small fire can get out of control if it interacts with dry fuels. keep water handy to douse a blaze that becomes too large.
remember think before you burn. those wishing to conduct outdoor debris burning are asked to postpone these activities if possible. residents are reminded that state law requires them to notify the south carolina forestry commission prior to burning and take proper precautions for containing the fire. to report a wildfire... call 911 or 1-800-777-fire (3473).
