fire weather watch in effect from sunday afternoon through
sunday evening for the western...central and south central texas
panhandle due to low afternoon relative humidities and strong
winds...
the national weather service in amarillo has issued a fire
weather watch...which is in effect from sunday afternoon through
sunday evening for the western...central and south central texas
panhandle due to low afternoon relative humidities and strong winds.
relative humidities of 15 percent or less with sustained 20 foot
winds of 20 mph or higher...and a high fire danger or greater are
forecast to occur. there is still some uncertainty with the
strength of the wind by sunday afternoon during the lowest
relative humidity. a surface trough may move over the watch area
which would tend to decrease the wind in the afternoon.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.
