...increased fire danger on saturday...
the combination of very dry conditions and gusty westerly winds
will increase the threat for rapid or erratic fire growth by
saturday afternoon. west to northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph may
gust up to 25 mph in the afternoon. the relative humidity will
drop to 25 percent or lower especially just east of the blue ridge
where downsloping will be enhanced. this combined with little
moisture recovery during the overnight...and drying due to heating
will lead to a high fire threat from the foothills into the
piedmont through saturday afternoon.
outdoor burning is discouraged into saturday...and any burning
that must take place should be conducted with extreme caution.
take steps to prevent unintended or uncontrolled fires through
exercising extreme caution. smoking materials should be properly
extinguished.
